The Environmental Engineer ensures total multimedia regulatory compliance for a manufacturing facility. This role directly manages programs across air, hazardous waste (RCRA), water pollution (SPCC), and industrial wastewater discharge.

Key Responsibilities Air Quality Compliance
  • Permit Management
    :
    Maintain and renew minor source air permits.
  • Emissions Tracking
    :
    Calculate monthly and annual VOC/HAP emissions.
  • Reporting
    :
    Submit accurate annual emissions inventories to state agencies.
  • Exemptions
    :
    Document and defend categorical permit exemptions.
  • Waste Characterization
    :
    Profile hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal wastes.
  • Manifest Tracking
    :
    Manage e-Manifest workflows from generation to disposal.
  • Inspections
    :
    Conduct weekly satellite and 90/180-day storage area audits.
  • Training
    :
    Lead annual RCRA refresher training for plant personnel.
Water & Spill Prevention (SPCC & Wastewater)
  • SPCC Oversight
    :
    Maintain, review, and update the facility SPCC plan.
  • Integrity Testing
    :
    Coordinate periodic inspections for oil storage tanks.
  • Wastewater Monitoring
    :
    Sample industrial effluent to meet permit limits.
  • DMR Submission
    :
    File monthly Discharge Monitoring Reports via NetDMR.
General EHS Support
  • Agency Audits
    :
    Serve as the primary contact for regulatory inspectors.
  • Corrective Actions
    :
    Root-cause environmental near-misses and deviations.
  • Sustainability
    :
    Track corporate metrics for water, waste, and carbon reduction.
Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience
    : 3–5 years of environmental compliance in a manufacturing plant.
  • Certifications
    : CHMM, REM, or FE/PE registration is highly preferred.
  • Skills
    :
    Expert proficiency with EPA Central Data Exchange (CDX) systems.
