We are seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to support major capital projects associated with the Subsequent License Renewal Program at Surry Power Station. This individual will be responsible for developing and reviewing engineering design changes, structural calculations, and technical evaluations while ensuring compliance with plant licensing and design basis requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and review engineering design change packages for nuclear plant modification
- Perform and validate structural calculations for steel and reinforced concrete structures
- Evaluate proposed modifications for compliance with plant design and licensing base
- Conduct 10 CFR 50.59 applicability determinations and screening
- Support construction, implementation, testing, and field activities associated with plant modification
- Interface with Engineers of Choice, vendors, and manufacturers to ensure technical requirements are met
- Review engineering deliverables, technical specifications, calculations, and design documents
- Provide field support and practical engineering solutions during installation and implementation activities
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering, operations, maintenance, and project team
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Engineering Mechanics
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience
- Recent commercial nuclear power experience within the last three years
- Demonstrated experience with Nuclear Design Change Process
- Design Basis Evaluation
- 10 CFR 50.59 Applicability Reviews and Screening
- Construction and Modification Implementation
- Strong analytical capabilities in steel and reinforced concrete design
- Thorough understanding of nuclear standard design processes
- Knowledge of licensing basis and design basis evaluation
- Experience supporting field construction and implementation activities
- Experience with GT STRUD
- Experience with MathCAD
- Prior qualifications at a nuclear power station related to Design Change
- 50.59 Evaluations and Screening
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop practical solutions to field engineering challenges
- Proven ability to lead, collaborate, and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
