Bridge Engineer III

• Produce and modify bridge design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects.
• Work closely with the project manager to research, develop, calculate, design, and deliver project deliverables.
• Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria to projects ranging in size and complexity.
• Leverage technical knowledge, experience, and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs.
• Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support project execution using current drawings and technical tools, programs, and software.
• Mentor, train, and review the work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback.
• Contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients.
• Complete assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
• Assist in the development of project specifications.
• Produce discipline‑specific engineering project elements such as reports, designs, and plans.
• Aide in the coordination and productivity of project team members.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering team members.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects.
• Perform quality control reviews of discipline‑specific engineering deliverables.
• Assist with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within the discipline.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience, or
• Master’s degree in Engineering with 3 years of relevant experience, or
• PhD in Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.

• Optimizing work processes by using knowledge of the most effective and efficient ways to get things done with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Independently progressing the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Open Bridge Designer, Leap Bridge Concrete/Steel, CSiBridge, and/or similar analysis programs, and Micro Station and/or AutoCAD.
• Thorough understanding of engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles.
• Time‑management skills, proactive forecasting, and effective communication of project development needs.

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
• Experience with current FEM modeling software.

Location:

Arlington, VA (Alexandria);
Baltimore, MD. The approximate pay range for Maryland is $87,542.15 – $, and for the nation‑wide range is $83,373.48 – $.
