The HSE Technician will support the implementation and maintenance of Hitachi, Ltd.'s Health, Safety, and Environmental programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies. This role involves proactive measures to prevent incidents, promote a safe working culture, and minimize environmental impact across Hitachi operations.
Responsibilities- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct regular HSE inspections and audits of workplaces, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
- Prepare and maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and documentation, including incident reports, training records, and inspection logs.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Support the delivery of HSE training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Monitor environmental performance, including waste management, energy consumption, and emissions, and assist in identifying areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure HSE considerations are integrated into all operational activities.
- Maintain and calibrate HSE equipment, such as gas detectors and noise meters.
- Stay up-to-date with current HSE legislation, standards, and best practices.
- Participate in HSE committee meetings and contribute to safety initiatives.
- Associate's degree or equivalent certification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of local and national HSE regulations and standards.
- Proficiency in conducting HSE inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively train and engage employees.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver's license may be required.
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
- Experience with HSE management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001) is desirable.
