Modular Mission Critical™ is the manufacturing campus for M.C. Dean’s complex, modular product line for data centers and critical infrastructure, located just north of Richmond, VA. This growing site serves customers worldwide and offers openings for assemblers, engineers, and designers.

The Senior Electrical Test Technician works independently on small to medium‑sized projects or as part of larger, more complex projects. The role is responsible for the overall administration, organization, and implementation of the project.

Responsibilities
  • Develop Electrical Testing Program for duty site and serve as the subject matter expert over the Operations and Maintenance program.
  • Manage or train operations staff to operate, monitor, and control system applications, maximizing efficiency and revising operating controls as needed.
  • Assist in the development of methods, SOPs, and training programs for operators to monitor and control complex mechanical, electrical, life safety, and building control systems.
  • Assist in the implementation of processes and procedures using CMMS to schedule, dispatch, track, and report MEP field repairs, adjustments, preventive maintenance, and warranty activities.
  • Manage integration, reliability, and functionality for all building control systems, including SCADA, Delta Controls, and Life Safety Systems.
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager on duty to optimize monitoring system performance and meet government energy goals.
  • Provide oversight and troubleshoot operational problems; must be capable of addressing issues.
  • Assume supervisory responsibility during electrical testing activities.
  • Assist MEP Operations Manager in developing electrical work and project schedules.
  • Assist in developing and implementing ORM safety procedures and safety meetings; generate safety reports and maintain related records.
  • Perform troubleshooting of SCADA, Building Management Systems, Relay testing, SKM power systems, ETAP; conduct short‑circuit and Arc Flash studies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant electrical experience with a High School Diploma or GED.
Expectations of Expertise & Knowledge
  • NETA/NICET certification (preferred) or equivalent hands‑on experience in electrical testing.
  • Strong understanding of ANSI, IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA electrical safety standards.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting protective relays, circuit breakers, transformers, switch gear, and other electrical equipment.
  • Experience with Doble, Omicron, Megger, Vanguard, and Fluke meters.
  • Understanding of insulation resistance, power factor, contact resistance, and Hi‑Pot testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of medium and high‑voltage systems up to 500 kV, including arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to diagnose system failures.
  • Willingness to travel and work in industrial, data‑center, and utility environments.
  • Ability to work safely under minimal supervision and follow industry best practices.
  • Perform acceptance and maintenance testing of electrical power systems, ensuring compliance with NETA standards.
  • Conduct protective relay testing, calibration, and programming for various manufacturers.
  • Perform circuit breaker and switch gear testing, including timing tests and injection testing.
  • Analyze transformer testing, including turns ratio, insulation resistance, and power factor.
  • Ensure adherence to electrical safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and PPE compliance.
  • Maintain detailed test reports and documentation for compliance and client review.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure efficient commissioning.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technicians.
