Role Overview

At Accenture Infrastructure & Capital Projects you will serve as a Deputy Construction Manager supporting the CM in overseeing day‑to‑day construction activities across complex transportation and capital infrastructure projects in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing and coordinating design reviews, plan approvals, and constructability reviews.
  • Support preparation of authorization documentation and project correspondence required by transit authority clients.
  • Prepare and maintain project budgets, schedules, and progress reports aligned with contract requirements.
  • Review subconsultant and contractor work, making recommendations on invoice approvals and payments.
  • Assist in administering construction contracts in compliance with transit agency standards, regulations, and federal funding requirements (FTA, FHWA).
  • Track and manage cost and schedule performance, flagging variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Prepare and issue monthly construction status reports for client and Accenture leadership.
  • Review and recommend contractor submittals and RFIs, coordinating with design teams and agency staff.
  • Monitor and coordinate construction activities in the field, including site visits and inspections.
  • Coordinate project close‑out activities, including punch lists, as‑built documentation, and lessons learned.
  • Evaluate scope changes and assist in preparing change orders for CM and client approval.
  • Conduct and coordinate briefings, presentations, and stakeholder meetings for transit agency clients, elected officials, and community representatives.
  • Interface with state and regional agencies to obtain project approvals and permits.
  • Monitor, coordinate, and evaluate key project activities to ensure optimal scope, cost/schedule compliance, and quality assurance.
  • Support training and mentorship of junior project staff and owner’s representative team members.
  • Work onsite with clients and partners to deliver projects and build relationships.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or 4 years of construction‑related experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 7 years verified experience in program planning, design management, and construction oversight of transportation or transit infrastructure projects.
  • Minimum 5 years in a Deputy CM, CM, or Senior Owner’s Representative role coordinating complex infrastructure projects through all phases within schedule, resources, and budget constraints.
  • Experience supporting or leading construction management on transit rail, bus rapid transit, highway, or related transportation capital programs in the Mid‑Atlantic region.
  • Familiarity with procurement and delivery requirements of one or more regional transit agencies (e.g., WMATA, VRE, MARC, NJ Transit, MTA, PATH/PANYNJ) or transportation agencies (VDOT, MDOT, DDOT, PANYNJ).
Bonus Points
  • PE, PMP, CCM, or equivalent professional certification.
  • Experience with VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications, WMATA Design Criteria Standards, or FTA/FHWA construction oversight requirements.
  • Experience with federally funded transit capital programs and associated compliance and reporting obligations.
  • Working knowledge of project controls software (Primavera P6, e‑Builder, Procore, or similar).
  • Ability to remain flexible and effective in a fast‑paced, client‑facing environment.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and respond to unexpected field conditions or schedule impacts.
  • Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing problems and coordinating across diverse project teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience preparing executive‑level briefings and client‑facing reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) or related tools.
Compensation & Location

Salary range: $160,000 – $220,000 per year. Compensation varies by office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
