Summary

HII - Australia is seeking a Regulatory / Safety / Assurance Integration Lead to join the team! This opportunity will be based out of Canberra, Australia. This position ensures sustainment activities are aligned with safety, certification, and regulatory requirements, integrating assurance considerations into planning and execution within a high-consequence environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Integrate safety case, certification, and sustainment activities.
  • Interface with Engineering Authority, NSSG, and regulators.
  • Ensure planning aligns with configuration baselines and safety constraints.
  • Support development of nuclear-relevant assurance frameworks.
  • Identify and elevate safety and certification risks early.
What you need to have
  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • 10+ years in nuclear safety, certification, or regulatory environments.
  • Direct exposure to US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) or equivalent nuclear governance frameworks.
  • Experience integrating:
    • Safety cases.
    • Certification processes.
    • Sustainment planning.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Configuration control.
    • Nuclear regulatory compliance.
    • High‑consequence risk management.
  • Ability to interface with engineering authorities and regulators.
  • Experience with Virginia‑class or other US SSN safety assurance frameworks.
  • Prior engagement with:
    • NAVSEA 02/05/07/08 (Naval Reactors).
    • Nuclear certification authorities.
  • Experience building assurance frameworks for new or transitioning programs.
  • Formal qualifications in nuclear engineering, safety engineering, or risk management.
