Systems Engineer, Test Engineer
Position Overview
Senior Systems Engineer – Electro‑Optical (EO) Technologies, Onsite, Dulles, VA. The role supports hands‑on development and integration of advanced optical sensors within complex automated systems, executing the full systems engineering lifecycle including design, build, integration, test, training, deployment, and sustainment.
Responsibilities- Execute full systems engineering lifecycle: system design, build, integration, test, training, deployment, and sustainment.
- Develop system test requirements, plan and conduct integration and verification activities, and analyze integration test results.
- Perform hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing and provide technical support for deployed sensor systems.
- Conduct system performance analysis, develop risk mitigation strategies, and identify opportunities for new functionality and system enhancements.
- Collaborate with customers, program management, vendors, and cross‑disciplinary teams to define requirements, system interfaces, and verification plans.
- Prepare and present comprehensive test reports to stakeholders, and support system design enhancements through troubleshooting and calibration.
- Perform integration, verification, and validation testing, and manage related documentation.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 25% to support fielded systems, demonstrations, and test events.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant engineering experience in electro‑mechanical systems.
- Proven experience in systems engineering lifecycle activities, including Con Ops development, requirement definition and management, functional analysis, interface definition, and control.
- Experience with system software, hardware, requirements, and/or test processes.
- Active, transferable U.S. government‑issued Secret security clearance (required). U.S. citizenship required.
- Preferred:
Active, transferable DoD Top Secret clearance. - Low‑level programming in Windows and Linux for embedded systems (microcontrollers or PLCs).
- Government contract systems engineering experience.
- Programming skills: MATLAB, Python, and/or other languages.
- Microsoft Office proficiency, including MS Visio and MS Project.
- Experience designing electro‑mechanical automated systems for harsh environments.
- CAD experience with PTC Creo (Pro‑E) or Solid Works.
- Experience designing networking systems in classified environments.
- Ability to conduct trade studies, assemble, troubleshoot, and repair electronic systems using test and measurement equipment.
Salary range: $95,500 – $181,700 USD, depending on experience. Additional incentive compensation may be available depending on role level.
