The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a FMS Airworthiness Engineer (NH-0801-03) to work for the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Crystal City, VA.

Qualifications/RequirementsWe are seeking a highly skilled and proactive General Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will serve as a professional general engineer in support of the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, sub-systems, support systems, equipment items, or an equivalent product. Interprets/translates engineering requirements into design characteristics and criteria. Engineering responsibility extends through development to final approval for production and service use.
Responsible for engineering assignments.
Coordinates complex projects involving electronics, mechanical, and aerospace engineering. Ensures projects remain aligned with program budgets, timelines, and technical performance targets while managing lifecycle sustainment.
Requirements, Architecture & Novel Problem Solving:Serves as the organization's technical specialist for defining system performance requirements, specifications, and integration test plans. Resolves unprecedented, highly complex, or controversial engineering challenges where standard guidelines or historical data are insufficient.
Systematic Analysis & Technical Justification:Performs rigorous technical, feasibility, and cost-benefit analyses. Uses advanced computer-aided engineering tools to evaluate systems, establishes standardized test methodologies, and delivers formal progress briefings and management reports.
Strategic Advisory & Program Consultation:Acts as a primary technical consultant to senior agency officials and subject matter experts. Assesses the impact of revolutionary new technologies on current systems, advises leadership on project reorientation or termination, and directly influences policies across the functional community.

- Obtain & maintain the appropriate Security clearance (Secret).
- This may be a designated Drug Testing Position.
- This position requires travel (TDY) away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- An engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an institution with an ABET-accredited program or in a closely related field is highly desired.
- Demonstrated knowledge of multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, methodologies, practices, and standard acquisition regulations.
- Must meet or be capable of achieving the APDP Engineering & Technical Management Level 1 Foundational certification within the defined grace period.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing.
