Customer Service Rep
We are looking for a reliable Customer Service – Baggage Drop Agent (Vendor Behind Counter) to assist airline passengers by verifying government‑issued identification, issuing passenger baggage tags, and moving baggage to the client conveyor belt system.
Pay Rate: $18.13 per hour.
Shift: Full Time AM & PM.
Location: Dulles International Airport.
- The individual may be required to stand and walk for two or more thirds of the work shift.
- Individuals may be required to talk, hear, and use hands to handle or feel for two or more thirds of the work shift.
- Individuals may be required to periodically lift 75 pounds or more for up to two or more thirds of the work shift.
- The work environment has a moderate noise level.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as government‑issued identification items, safety rules, operating and procedure manuals, and employee handbooks.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Employees must comply with the company’s uniform and grooming standards and must wear their SIDA badge/airport all times.
- Employees must comply with all guidelines and policies set forth in ABM Aviation’s Employee Handbook, including the Zero Tolerance Discrimination and Harassment Policy, Retaliation Policy, Ethics Policy, and Security Policy.
This role is suitable for individuals just entering or re‑entering the workforce, with limited experience and education. ABM is a military and veteran friendly employer; veterans and candidates with military experience are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities- Meet and greet airline customers in a positive and friendly manner.
- Move stanchions for optimal line queue management.
- Verify government‑issued photo identification and/or authorization to ensure only authorized access to the concourse.
- Issue customer baggage tags and place tags on checked baggage.
- Move tagged baggage to the client conveyor belt system.
- Comply with all safety, security, compliance, quality, and hazardous materials handling requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required.
- Must meet all requirements to receive the required airport SIDA badge, and Customs Seal (if applicable), including successful completion of a background check and ten‑year work history.
- One year of customer service or similar work experience preferred.
- Previous airport, baggage handling, warehouse, or porter experience preferred.
- Social Security Number.
