Position Title: Senior Project Accountant
Location: Dulles, VA (On-site)
Assignment Type: Permanent Hire
Compensation: $90,000–$115,000
Work Schedule: M–F 9–5

Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to support financial operations for large-scale, project-based work. This role partners closely with project leadership and internal teams to ensure accurate job costing, billing, financial reporting, and risk management throughout the full project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate all phases of project job costing, including tracking, categorizing, and analyzing project-related costs
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly project billings in accordance with contract requirements
- Monitor project budgets, commitments, and financial performance
- Process subcontractor and vendor invoices and support preparation of customer invoices
- Partner with project managers and internal stakeholders to assess overall financial health of projects
- Prepare monthly financial reports, forecasts, and cost projections
- Identify financial risks, variances, and opportunities and communicate findings to project leadership
- Participate in project progress and internal financial review meetings
- Perform special financial analyses and ad hoc reporting as needed
- Support financial compliance and documentation to reduce project risk
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior project accounting staff
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of project accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of job costing and project-based financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience working in project-driven or contract-based environments
