This individual will work cross-functionally with project leadership, operational stakeholders, and senior management to drive financial visibility, monitor project profitability, and support long-range business initiatives. The role also provides leadership across core transactional accounting functions and helps advance process, system, and team development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with operational leadership, project teams, procurement, and executive stakeholders to support financial performance and forecasting efforts
- Oversee core accounting operational functions such as procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and/or record-to-report activities
- Ensure timely completion of recurring financial reporting cycles including monthly and annual close processes
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for an established accounting and finance team
- Support external audit processes and assist with vendor compliance and risk management activities
- Identify and implement opportunities for workflow optimization, automation, and financial process improvements
- Analyze project financial performance, cost trends, and margin drivers to support business decision-making
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses supporting bids, project pursuits, and capital planning initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (advanced degree or professional certification preferred)
- Progressive accounting or finance experience within project-based or construction-related environments
- Experience working with multiple contract structures and revenue recognition methodologies
- Strong knowledge of project accounting principles including work-in-progress tracking, cost management, and contract billing practices
- Prior experience working with project or construction ERP platforms
- Demonstrated success leading and developing accounting or finance teams
- Experience supporting financial operations within a growing or fast-paced organization preferred
- Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Familiarity supporting both union and non-union payroll environments is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- High attention to detail and organizational discipline
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to partner across departments
- High level of discretion when handling sensitive financial information
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial reporting / analytics tools
