Description
The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority has a full‑time position available for a Staff Accountant II to join the Budget and Reporting Team. The selected candidate is to perform intermediate skilled technical work preparing and processing journal entries, analyzing and processing bank deposits, managing fixed assets and processing depreciation, reconciling bank revenue, analyzing financial statements in accordance to GAAP and compliance to company policy, analyzing and preparing account general ledger reconciliations, preparing 1099 miscellaneous statements to vendors in accordance to Internal Revenue Service, and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed under supervision of the Senior Accountant/Financial Reporting Analyst.
- Analyzes financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance with internal policies
- Prepares month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing journal entries
- Prepares work papers, financial statements and various reports for auditors and internal staff
- Prepares month‑end preliminary and final reports for agency/staff
- Receives edits for month‑end reports and prepares journal entries as needed
- Analyzes and prepares GL account reconciliations
- Develops a thorough understanding of, monitors and maintains systems, procedures and policies including accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines
- Assists Senior Accountant/Financial Reporting Analyst with proper expenditure coding, documentation and other accounting related activities
- Acts as a liaison with regional finance departments
- Monitors regional invoices and payments to facilitate accurate reconciliation and regional reporting
- Reconciles Federal Grants
- Manages fixed assets and processes depreciation
- Serves as back up to Staff Accountant I and Senior Accountant/Financial Reporting Analyst as needed
- Researches transactions, accounting guidance, and regulations as assigned by the Senior Accountant/Financial Reporting Analyst, Director of Budget, Reporting and Analysis or CFO
- Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Budget, Reporting and Analysis or CFO
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, or in finance or business administration with coursework in accounting, and at least two years of accounting experience.
- Excel skilss a must.
- Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia

Starting Salary Range: $71,000
