Job Description

We are offering a 3-month contract employment opportunity for a Non‑Profit Controller in Martinsville, Virginia. This role will be hybrid onsite (2 days a week) and is critical to our operations, dealing with various general accounting functions and ensuring the accurate recording of our financial transactions. You will play a key role in our finance department, working closely with external auditors and preparing financial reports.

• Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GASB. Play an integral role in managing the day‑to‑day operations of the Finance Department.
• Responsible for all general accounting functions including month‑end closing preparation, monthly accounting reconciliations, and ensuring the company financial transactions are properly recorded
• Prepare and analyze month end financial reports
• Prepare documentation for External Auditors
• Ensures proper accounting and financial reporting activities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, sound business practices, and relevant local, state, and federal regulations.

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
• Previous experience and comprehensive knowledge of GASB accounting (i.e., fund accounting)
• 6+ years of accounting experience required
  
  Ability to work independently
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to be onsite in Martinsville at least 2 days a week
