D.R. Horton, Inc. Division ControllerThe Division Controller manages all aspects of a division’s historical reporting, anticipatory budgeting, and financial projections. The role acts as the conscience of the division, taking fiduciary responsibilities, improving business processes, and challenging the thinking and decisions of the entire management team. The controller leads senior management in compliance with company policies and serves as the liaison between the division and corporate/region offices on accounting and finance matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Enforce operating procedures and policies established by the company.
- Manage all banking activities in accordance with corporate policies.
- Report financial results in compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Oversee the budgeting process, ensuring all budgets accurately reflect contractual or estimated liabilities.
- Prepare and ensure the reliability of all financial projections required by corporate management.
- Execute the month‑end close process and coordinate the division’s accounting books with Corporate Accounting.
- Coordinate and implement the approved pricing strategy.
- Fully understand and utilize the division’s computerized accounting system.
- Perform duties in both financial and operational segments, including field visits.
- Conduct all business ethically to serve customers and enhance company goodwill and profit.
Directly manages two or more employees in the Accounting Department, carrying out responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, appraising, rewarding, disciplining, and resolving complaints and problems in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
Education and/or Experience- Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.
- Six to eight years of related experience and/or training.
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently to balance competing deadlines.
- Accurate processing and recording of large volumes of data.
- Proficiency with MS Office and email.
- Experience working in JD Edwards is a plus.
