Job DutiesProvide supervision of the statewide Emergency Services Unit program ensuring compliance with established certifications and training programs, and well as supervising the ESU operations (Special Response Teams, Critical Incident Negotiations Team, Critical Incident Peer Support Team) as well as assisting his/her manager with Emergency Management Operations for the Virginia Department of Corrections. Work closely with stakeholders on special projects, committees and boards in security preparedness and response matters.
Minimum Qualifications- Certified SRT member.
- Related experience in the field and a minimum of three (3) year’s experience in Emergency Response and Emergency Management, working and training these types of teams.
- Knowledge of contemporary correctional and emergency response practices, the criminal justice system and law enforcement methods, policies, laws and procedures.
- Ability to work independently, exercising good judgement in analyzing situations, making reasonable decisions and performing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interpret Federal and state laws/laws/regulations and Departmental Operating Procedures relating to the Emergency Response Teams and the inventory/maintenance of their equipment.
- Ability to obtain appropriate certifications in general and specialized training.
- Ability to train, develop, facilitate and evaluate team members/supervisors.
- Ability to communicate effectively a statewide program, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to plan, direct and review the work of others.
- Demonstrated ability of building working relationships at all levels within the organization and with external partners.
- Working knowledge of VACORIS, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office Programs.
- Completed SRT Level I and Level II Basic Courses, DCJS Instructor Certifications.
