The VEST Coordinator of Human Services is responsible for ensuring human services integration within the VEST, ensuring effective coordination of programs, resources, and partnerships that support disaster response and recovery. Serves as the agencies primary point of contact for Access and Functional Needs & promotes inclusive emergency across the whole of the VEST. The position provides staffing and guidance to the State Coordinator’s Office related to the access and functional needs and serves in a leadership capacity of the equity workgroup.
This position develops and implements policy and procedures to support the VEST centered around disaster-related human services, coordinating with federal, state and local partners.
All VDEM employees are designated as essential personnel and may be required to work during emergency situations, such as inclement weather, and natural or man-made disasters/events as directed. This may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official EWP.
- - Knowledge of emergency management principles,ICS/NIMS, and state coordination structures.
- - Experience with access and functional needs, disability integration, and accessibility requirements.
- - Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to DOIA.
- - Knowledge of human services programs, functions, and key partners.
- - Knowledge of and familiarity with emergency management principles and operations.
- - Demonstrated experience with data analysis and presenting statistical information.
- - Ability to create actionable guidance for state and local emergency managers.
- - Experience and a demonstrated commitment to AFN principles.
- - Experience delivering trainings
- - Ability to prioritize and manage complex projects or initiatives.
- - Experience in emergency management, disaster human services, public health preparedness

The salary for this position is negotiable up to the maximum hiring range listed in this posting. Offers will not be made outside of the hiring range.
