Job Summary & Qualifications
  • Demonstrates expertise in mental health promotion and maintenance of high quality comprehensive patient care.
  • Displays respect for patient’s integrity, patient information, and patient rights.
  • Assists with maintaining patient’s activities of daily living.
  • Demonstrates accountability for specifically assigned duties such as patient observation rounds, suicide risk observation, monitoring vital signs, and inventory of patient’s belongings.
  • Maintains patient record and documentation according to policy. Uses Meditech software proficiently.
  • Provides nursing care to the psychiatric patient under the direction of the RN.
  • Works as a member of a team to assist with milieu management and performs job tasks to ensure personal, patient and departmental safety.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively with staff, physicians, management, external and internal customers. Ensures timely and accurate communication of patient information with all members of the treatment team.
  • Leads or co‑leads groups: goals, community, leisure, diversionary, and wrap‑up.
  • Assists Charge Nurses and co‑workers in maintaining efficiency.
  • Completes clerical responsibilities.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures. Supports the mission of the facility.
  • Pursues and takes responsibility to enhance personal and professional growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Licensure & Credentials
  • BLS certification (required).
  • CPI must be obtained within 60 days of employment (required).
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (preferred).
Experience
  • Required:

    Able to work under pressure and maintain composure and pleasant manner. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills necessary. Demonstrated typing and word‑processing skills, experience with telephone systems, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Preferred:
    Previous experience in a hospital/medical setting and experience with psychiatric patients.
