Overview
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - Trauma & Surgical Subspecialties, 5 West, Full Time at UVA Health. These roles provide direct patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses or other Medical Professionals. They primarily focus on assisting patients with activities of daily living while monitoring vital signs and reporting changes in patient condition, and maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care under supervision of Registered Nurses or other Medical Professionals.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living; monitor vital signs and report changes in patient condition.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients.
- Take patient histories, measure and monitor vital signs, prepare patients for examinations, and assist with minor procedures.
- Education:
High School Graduate or Equivalent - Experience:
No experience required - Licesure:
American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required. - Certification/education criteria (required):
- Certified to practice as a Nurse Aide in the Commonwealth of Virginia OR must meet UVa PCT Education Program or another approved PCT Education Program.
- Documented proof of at least 1 year of recent (within past 2 years) experience in a similar PCT role; candidate must pass a written exam and demonstrate clinical skills during a 6 month probationary period.
- Passage of a nationally recognized PCT Certification exam (e.g., National Health career Association - C-PCT). Present certificate as verification.
- Currently enrolled student nurses who have completed the Medical/Surgical Clinical Experience and Didactic are exempt from the Certified Nurse Aide requirement.
- EMT or above certification; UVA PCT Course to be completed within 6 month probationary period.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient in communication, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20–50 lbs and >100 lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
Position CompensationRange: $15.37 - $23.82 Hourly
