Job Overview
Ensures the safe and effective use of medications by providing medication order verification while assessing for optimal drug product selection, dosage regimen design, effective administration, and drug therapy monitoring services in the UVA Medical Center. Monitors inpatient and outpatient drug therapies when appropriate and works with related medical staff to find alternatives when needed to ensure the best care possible is being given.

Dedicated and clinically driven pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care during the overnight hours. Follow a 7‑on/7‑off schedule and is responsible for medication order verification, responding to bedside clinical needs, and collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.

- Supports the educational and professional development of the Pharmacy department

- Other duties may be assigned in addition to the above responsibilities.

The starting base rate for this role is $ annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Bachelor’s in Pharmacy or Pharm.
D. degree required. - Experience:
PGY‑1 residency required or equivalent hospital experience (3 years). PGY‑2 residency is preferred for specialty areas. - Licensure/
Certifications:
Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy license required;
American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider; BLS certification required.
Job requires sitting for prolonged periods; repetitive motion: typing. Requires proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull < 20 lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
