Job Description
Member is an adult male who needs a patient, attentive caregiver to support daily routines and safety mary needs include assistance with communication (limited talking) and hearing support (hard of hearing), plus calm, steady help during spasms/shaking. Member also needs help with incontinence care (catheter care support) and may require assistance handling/holding items due to reduced grip/control. Caregiver should be comfortable working in a home where family is present (lives with parents), and able to provide respectful, privacy-focused care while coordinating with the household.
Ideal caregiver traits: gentle approach, strong observation skills, clear communication, experience with personal care, and comfort assisting someone with mobility/coordination challenges.
We prefer caregivers who are no more than a 30-minute drive from the member’s home.
Required Duties (Texas STAR+PLUS)
Personal Care / ADLs- Assistance with toileting and incontinence care (including catheter care support as directed)
- Grooming and hygiene support (as needed)
- Dressing assistance (as needed)
- Safe transfers/positioning support and fall-prevention awareness (as needed)
- Calm support during spasms/shaking; monitor for safety and comfort
- Assist with communication needs (patience, clear/simple prompts, allow extra time)
- Hearing support (speak clearly, face member when talking, reduce background noise)
- Help handling items and completing tasks requiring grip/coordination
- Tidy member’s immediate area, change linens (as needed), light cleaning/sanitizing of commonly used surfaces
- Laundry assistance related to member care
- Meal preparation and light kitchen cleanup
- Assist with eating setup as needed (opening containers, cutting food, stabilizing items)
- Smoker in home: No
- Pets in home: Yes (caregiver must be pet-friendly)
- Medication: May include reminders/assistance as permitted by program guidelines (no medication names will be provided in posting)
