Float Medical Assistant – Ambulatory Clinics

• Performs basic nursing skills under the direction and supervision of physicians, advanced practice professionals, and registered nursing staff
• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms; obtains initial information and vital signs
• Prepares exam rooms and maintains cleanliness and supply availability
• Assists with or performs exams, tests, and procedures
• Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts
• Assists providers during patient examinations and procedures
• Educates patients on follow-up expectations
• Maintains required quality control testing logs
• Ensures medical equipment is in proper working condition
• Assists patients with completing medical documentation
• May travel between Thomas Memorial Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital facilities

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date
• Current National Certification as Certified Medical Assistant
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (preferred)
• One (1) year of healthcare experience (preferred)
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients
• Ability to adapt to changing environments
• Ability to use and learn software applications
• Ability to organize and prioritize work
• Ability to work in both an independent and team setting
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform normal rotation, standing, and walking for an 8-12 hour shift
• Ability to work around biohazards and infectious diseases
• May be required to travel between facilities

Demonstrates proficiency in basic nursing skills, patient care, and medical documentation while ensuring compliance with quality control standards. Capable of effective communication and adaptability in a healthcare environment.
