The Epidemiology Program Manager provides leadership for health information and training activities within the Virginia Department of Health's Office of Epidemiology. This position manages statewide epidemiology programs, collaborates with local health districts and external organizations on public health guidance and disease control procedures, and manages federal grant budgets and emergency preparedness activities. The role serves as a technical expert requiring independent management of epidemiology programs, policy development, and workforce development initiatives.
Keyqualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of communicable diseases, public health surveillance, case and outbreak investigations
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding disease reporting and control
- Considerable knowledge of biostatistics, computer data analysis, and data management techniques
- Demonstrated ability to develop program goals, evaluate effectiveness, and train and supervise subordinates
- Comprehensive experience in epidemiology, public health, or related area with supervision or management experience
- Considerable experience with public health emergency response and technical writing
