IOP Group Therapist (Licensed Professional Counselor) - Part-Time with a Path to Full-Time
About Virginia Family WellnessAs a behavioral health practice, our words matter immensely. At Virginia Family Wellness, we believe that all humans possess the inherent capacity to be well and live full, rewarding lives. Dedicated to elevating lives through compassionate care, we provide evidence-based, holistic services that address each individual's unique needs. Our practice fosters a supportive, collaborative environment where every client and team member is truly seen, heard, and valued.
We are committed to integrity, innovation, and continuous growth, empowering our diverse team to build a healthier, more resilient community together.
At Virginia Family Wellness, we value experienced clinicians as leaders who shape the quality of care our clients receive. We offer meaningful clinical autonomy, a collaborative team, and professional respect. We are seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor to join us as an IOP Clinician.
You will serve as a primary group facilitator for our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and support our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) as needed. This is an opportunity to practice across two levels of care in a boutique setting, with room to grow into supervision and leadership.
The "Wellness" Advantage- Clinical Autonomy: Bring your expertise to the groups you lead and help shape our program curriculum.
- Two Levels of Care: Lead IOP groups and support our PHP, keeping your clinical work varied and engaging.
- Team-Based Model: Our therapists rotate across IOP and PHP sessions, so no one clinician carries the load alone. You get variety, built-in support, and protection from burnout.
- Supervisor Pathway: Opportunity to provide clinical supervision to our Residents in Counseling as you meet Virginia's requirements for board-approved supervisors.
- Room to Grow: This part-time role has a clear path to full-time as our programs grow.
- Lead IOP Groups: Facilitate IOP Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM (three 1-hour sessions, mostly virtual), creating a safe, dynamic, and empathetic milieu for clients engaging with anxiety, depression, and trauma. We do not accept active psychosis, aggressive detox, or acuity that belongs in a hospital setting.
- Support PHP: Lead PHP sessions as needed when IOP is not meeting. PHP is always in person and runs Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
- Design Curriculum: Design engaging, evidence-based group topics (e.g., Art Therapy, ACT, Mindfulness) in collaboration with our Clinical Director.
- Coordinate Care: Manage intakes, help oversee daily group schedules, complete timely and accurate documentation, and collaborate with the treatment team and families to ensure a holistic approach to client support.
- Manage Risk: Conduct risk assessments and respond to crises with sound clinical judgment, in partnership with clinical leadership.
- Predictable
Schedule:
IOP meets Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM. IOP is currently mostly virtual, with the potential to expand to an in-person group. No evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts. - Flexible Additional
Hours:
Additional PHP sessions are available based on program need, giving you the option to increase your hours and income. - Professional Growth: Free professional training and CEUs to support your license renewal and continued development.
- Collaborative Leadership: You will report directly to the Clinical Director and contribute to program operations and…
