Sumter Local Government Consulting is pleased to be assisting Glynn County, GA in conducting a recruitment for their next Human Resources Director.

Glynn County is located along the Atlantic coast in south-eastern Georgia, midway between Savannah, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida. The area ranks as one of the top tourist destinations in the nation. Known as “The Golden Isles”, the county’s main-land is surrounded by barrier islands including Jekyll Island, Saint Simons Island and Sea Island. Featuring 207 holes of golf, as well as beautiful beaches on the islands, this coastal location is a haven for residents and visitors alike.

Glynn County is easily accessible via Interstate-95, US Route 17, US Route 82 & US Route 341, as well as two airports (Brunswick Golden Isles Airport and McKinnon Saint Simons Island Airport).

The Human Resources Director serves as Glynn County’s chief steward of people strategy and workforce development. This executive leader manages all human resources functions—including recruitment, benefits, compensation, performance management, training, safety, risk management, employee relations, and HR policy development.

The Director provides insight and strategic HR counsel to the County Administrator, the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, the Board of Commissioners, leadership teams, and department heads. This role shapes policies, drives modernization, and ensures consistent, compliant, and service-focused HR practices throughout the organization.

The Director supervises HR staff, oversees department budgeting, leads the development and implementation of HR systems, and manages relationships with benefits providers, vendors, consultants, and community partners.

The position requires the successful candidate to meet the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, public administration, or related field
• 3–5 years of progressive experience sufficient to understand and manage diverse HR functions
• Strong knowledge of human resources principles, employment law, benefits, compensation, and performance management
• Demonstrated strength in supervision, planning, communication, and problem solving

The hiring range for this position is $115,519 - $124,402.
