Software Asset Analyst (Technical / Automation Focus)
- Location: Fully Remote
- Pay Rate: $37 Per hour
- Hours: 40 hours per week (no overtime or weekend support expected)
- Duration: 6‑month initial contract with contract‑to‑hire potential
We are seeking a technically skilled Software Asset Analyst to support and advance our Software Asset Management (SAM) program, with a strong emphasis on automation and systems integration
. This role is responsible for transforming manual license provisioning, entitlement tracking, and reclamation processes into scalable, reliable, and automated workflows
.
The Software Asset Analyst will work cross‑functionally with IT, Security, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and Compliance teams to ensure software licenses are provisioned accurately, utilized efficiently, and maintained in compliance with vendor agreements and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities Software Asset & License Management- Manage the end‑to‑end lifecycle of software assets and licenses, including request intake, provisioning, usage tracking, reclamation, and retirement
- Track and maintain accurate records of license entitlements, usage, and compliance across on‑premises and SaaS environments
- Ensure ongoing alignment with vendor licensing terms and internal governance standards
- Design, build, and maintain automated license provisioning and reclamation workflows using APIs, scripting, and ITSM integrations
- Develop and support automation for data ingestion, normalization, reconciliation, and synchronization across SAM, CMDB, and related platforms
- Partner with engineering and platform teams to integrate SAM tooling with identity management, endpoint management, and procurement systems
- Analyze software usage and entitlement data to identify compliance risks, cost optimization opportunities, and automation enhancements
- Maintain high standards of data quality, accuracy, and system integrity across all asset and license management platforms
- Develop dashboards, reports, and key metrics to communicate license posture, spend optimization, and automation performance to stakeholders
- Support vendor audits by ensuring accurate documentation, reporting readiness, and defensible audit trails
- Collaborate closely with ITSM, Security, Compliance, Procurement, and Finance teams to align automation workflows with policy, renewals, forecasting, and cost‑control initiatives
- 3+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or a related technical operations role
- Strong understanding of common software licensing models, including SaaS, subscription, perpetual, user‑based, and device‑based licensing
- Experience working with APIs, webhooks, and system integrations
- Familiarity with ITSM platforms (e.g., Service Now) and SAM or asset management tools
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work effectively with large, complex datasets
