Overview
The CIAT Infrastructure Support Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and support of the CIAT system's underlying infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of virtualization technologies, scripting languages, operating systems, and complex system architectures. The engineer will troubleshoot issues, document procedures, and collaborate with other team members to ensure the stability, security, and performance of the CIAT infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated problem‑solver with a passion for learning and a commitment to providing excellent technical support.
TravelRequired to support CIAT system deployments and maintenance activities.
An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.
- Strong understanding of VMware and virtual machine configuration.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Power Shell, Ansible, Bash, and Python.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex problems independently.
- Comprehensive understanding of system of systems concepts, IaaS, and complex system architectures.
- Extensive knowledge of Linux (RHEL and Ubuntu) and Windows operating systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot the CIAT system's virtualized environment using VMware.
- Configure and manage virtual machines (VMs), ensuring optimal performance and resource utilization.
- Automate system administration tasks using scripting languages:
Power Shell, Ansible, Bash, and Python. - Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure processes and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with other team members to resolve technical issues and share knowledge.
- Troubleshoot complex problems independently, with minimal supervision.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the CIAT system of systems architecture, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) components, and complex system interdependencies.
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux (primarily RHEL and Ubuntu) and Windows operating systems.
- AWS tactical knowledge in BL9 or BL10 environments.
- Programming or development experience.
- VMware or IaaS certifications.
- Containerization experience (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience.
CompensationCompensation at Sim Ventions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements. The projected annual compensation range for this position is $92,000 - $155,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that Sim Ventions offers.
