PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY The Senior Infrastructure Engineer (SIE) is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of Carter Blood Care’s (CBC) network infrastructure. This position applies advanced expertise in Cisco networking technologies, routing protocols, SD-WAN, and infrastructure security to design, implement, and optimize resilient network solutions.

The SIE ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of network systems by maintaining LAN/WAN environments, supporting VOIP systems, and collaborating with cybersecurity personnel to enforce security standards. This position proactively monitors, troubleshoots, and resolves complex network and infrastructure issues to ensure high availability and performance across critical systems, including hybrid cloud environments.

The SIE exemplifies and champions CBC Core Values and Code of Conduct and adheres to CBC policies and applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). To support ongoing development and organizational goals, the SIE is required to attend meetings and training sessions, as assigned. This position participates in the shared on-call rotation with the IS Technical Services team.

Exempt employees are expected to maintain availability beyond standard business hours when business needs arise. Regular, full-time attendance is required during normal working hours.

EDUCATION Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field;
Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP CCIE), preferred

EXPERIENCE Minimum of 5 years of experience with Cisco routing, switching, and firewall technologies

Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting VOIP systems, preferably Cisco-based solutions

Minimum of 3 years of experience with SD-WAN technologies and implementation

Experience in a lead, mentoring, or supervisory capacity, preferred

Experience administering enterprise systems and services, including Windows Domain Services (e.g., Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy) and Microsoft 365, preferred

Experience supporting network and infrastructure environments across cloud and virtualization platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, VMware, Nutanix), preferred

Experience managing infrastructure lifecycle activities (e.g., patching, firmware upgrades, ongoing maintenance of network devices), preferred

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN architecture, routing, switching, and network protocols

Knowledge of SD-WAN architecture, deployment, and management

Understanding of hybrid cloud networking concepts, including Azure and AWS networking services

Familiarity with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Nutanix)
Knowledge of Windows Domain Services (e.g., AD, DNS, Group Policy)
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration

Strong understanding of network security principles and collaboration with cybersecurity teams

Proficiency in configuring and maintaining Cisco infrastructure and firewall technologies

Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues in a timely manner

Strong documentation skills, including network diagrams and SOPsExcellent communication skills with the ability to interface with users and cross-functional team

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and critical infrastructure support responsibilities
