Data Center Technician

Job Description

We are offering a long‑term contract employment opportunity for a Data Center Technician in Ashburn, Virginia. The role entails managing infrastructure installations and coordinating network connections in the tech industry. As a Data Center Technician, you will engage directly with the IT and Project Management team, ensuring that all service levels are met and all projects are thoroughly estimated and documented.

• Coordinate and manage infrastructure installation requests from start to finish.
• Support building power downs and single‑sided events.
• Certify network connections and peripherals before handing off to DCS.
• Interface with the BAU team to provide additional infrastructure.
• Coordinate work requests with electrical contractors.
• Document project requirements through communication with IT or Project Management team and interpretation of schematics and drawings.
• Monitor and coordinate power remediation from start to completion.
• Assist with rack level capacity management and MOA monitoring.
• Participate in meetings pertaining to BAU or projects INF work.
• Provide Root Cause Analysis reports regarding power issues.
• Coordinate infrastructure installs, including power installs, infrastructure and rack installs, and infrastructure cabling.
• Track and order all infrastructure materials.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Data Center Technician or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in Network Operations Center (NOC) functions.
• Demonstrable skills in cable assemblies and cable installation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft tools and applications.
• Experience with Cisco hardware.
• Knowledge of SAN (Storage Area Network).
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
• Problem‑solving attitude and strong attention to detail.
• Availability to resolve urgent issues outside of business hours when necessary.
• Relevant certification in IT or related field is a plus.
• Adherence to all company policies regarding data center operations.
