The System Administrator provides system administration for all systems and applications supported by DUSN (M) in compliance with DoW, DON, and DUSN (M) security guidance, orders and directives. The role includes identifying and remediating vulnerabilities, implementing and testing security controls, assisting with software upgrades and maintaining a healthy system for the Department of the Navy Office of Administration (DON OA) Information Technology Division (ITD).
Responsibilities- Perform tasks required to achieve and maintain Authorizations to Operate (ATOs) for all systems and applications supported by DUSN (M).
- Ensure all servers are virtualized, maintain accurate diagrams and baseline documentation of server configurations.
- Provide system administration for applications residing in commercial and government cloud‑based environments; assist the Government with consolidation and rationalization efforts, including potential migration to an approved Navy hosting environment.
- Conduct and maintain daily and weekly backups on and off‑site for all production and identified development servers.
- Support disaster planning activities: develop, test, and perform layers of disaster procedures; manage off‑site storage and recovery processes; conduct business recovery and server/application reconstitution processes; update and maintain the Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Assist with periodic training and disaster recovery drills.
- Test software patches and upgrades; assist the Government in adhering to Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), Cyber Task Orders (CTO) and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs).
- Provide problem resolution to restore services that have been degraded or experienced a mission‑impacting outage.
- Perform application and system monitoring of all services, including customer‑provided applications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in an IT‑related discipline with at least 3 years of experience.
- Demonstrated experience performing Automated Service Interruptions (ASIs) and achieving STIG compliance.
- Current IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP). Preferred Security+ CE certificate.
