As a Data Automation Engineer, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on a Data Automation Engineer joining our team to support our intelligence customer in Springfield, VA.
In this role, a typical day will include:- Supporting the Geospatial Services and Solutions business area to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions to the customer.
- Designing and implementing automation solutions to enhance data capture, data refinement, and processes.
- Implementing best practices for ETL processes, including data validation, error handling, and performance tuning.
- Interfacing with device APIs to collect operational metrics.
- Administering and automating data pipelines between different environments.
- Producing and deploying code via Git Lab projects in collaboration with other team members.
- Integrating Docker build and deployment processes into Git Lab CI/CD pipelines, automating image builds, testing, and deployments to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Automating container lifecycle management, including deployment, scaling, and updating of containerized applications.
- Using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to define and manage container infrastructure and configurations.
- Utilizing best practices for source control, testing, and deployment of software changes.
- Working in close collaboration with other automation engineers, infrastructure administrators, and data scientists.
- Diagnosing, isolating, and expediently resolving complex problems pertaining to data structures.
- Developing methods of ensuring data incompatibilities among systems are systematically eliminated.
- Developing and recommending data management policies, standards, practices, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent data management operations.
- Participating in continuous improvement efforts to increase data availability, data quality, and speed of access.
- Maintaining up-to-date documentation of designs/configurations, ensuring team members have continuity of recurring tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, or training, and work experience.
- 8+ years of related systems engineering experience.
- Scripting, coding, or software development experience (preferred languages: Python, Bash, Power Shell, Scala).
- Comfort with Linux/Windows command-line.
- Automation mindset.
- System administration and/or Dev Ops environment experience.
- Active TS/SCI clearance and eligibility to obtain a CI poly.
- Web app development experience such as Flask, Django, React, etc.
- UI/UX experience.
- Experience with analytics tools such as Tableau.
- Infrastructure as Code experience.
- Experience in technical operations at DoD/IC agencies.
