Systems Engineer, Network Engineer
Overview
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Network Infrastructure Engineer to build Amazon Dedicated Cloud regions as part of the Infrastructure Operations team. The role focuses on scaling network systems to meet customer demand, driving stability and sustainability of next-generation networks, and developing automation and scales for network operations.
Responsibilities- Scale support for multiple data center locations and assist with capacity management.
- Communicate project status and blockers to leadership and project management.
- Perform device build and cabling validation activities.
- Manage cabling vendor activities and perform quality assurance.
- Support Network Engineering deployment activities during scheduled change management windows; participate in migrations, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
- Complete customer requests via the Remedy trouble ticketing system.
- Troubleshoot networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including device configuration and low-level application interaction.
- Deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions and processes.
- Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow; collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
- Travel within the geographical work area is required; up to 40% travel outside the traditional area may be required, including possible international travel.
A day in the life of a Network Design Engineer includes attending meetings, executing change management activities in the data center, deploying hardware, connecting cabling, troubleshooting links, updating tickets, and collaborating with AWS teams to innovate and improve processes for customers.
Team and ContextAWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, including data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. The team works to deliver safety, security, capacity, and cost efficiency while fostering an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas.
Qualifications- BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of data center engineering or operations experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Knowledge of network design and layout and low voltage (copper/fiber) cabling
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
- Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF, and other routing/security technologies
- General understanding of data center infrastructure components
