Data Mining & Analytics Engineer, Journeyman; Security Clearance Required

ICF is actively recruiting for a Data Mining and Analytics Engineer to support the research and development of new cyber analytic capabilities that will help the US protect and defend its networks and critical information systems. The role will help advance the knowledge of how cyber‑attacks work, how vulnerabilities are exploited, and how hostile cyber actors operate. The successful candidate will develop analytic solutions—hardware, software, tools, techniques, and practices—tailored to customer use cases.

• Perform knowledge elicitation from customer subject matter experts and convert that to build analytic solutions.
• Design, engineer, and optimize sustainment of large‑scale distributed computation platforms and supporting environments for various stakeholders.
• Oversee the transition of services from third‑party vendors to the analytic environment and provide ad‑hoc and formal end‑user training.
• Identify applicable data to perform analytics and create solutions to acquire, transform, and load or correlate data components to and from the analytic environment.
• Develop custom data modeling procedures to assist with data mining, modeling, and production.
• Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
• Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
• Interpret and communicate results to non‑technical customers.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of experience in a related field.
• Practical working experience and advanced knowledge of cyber threats, tools, techniques, and processes.
• Strong experience in data modeling and working with datasets of all sizes using a variety of data mining and data analysis methods/tools.
• Active high‑level security clearance required as part of client contract requirements.
• U.S. citizenship required.

• Practical experience with the Databricks Intelligence Platform.
• Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various clients to explain and elaborate on technical details.
• Experience in developing analytic tools, processes, and governance for storing, modeling, capturing, and delivering data to the client’s enterprise.
• Experience with computational notebook technologies such as Databricks, Zeppelin, or Jupyter.
• Experience with the application of visual analytics to computational analytic results.
• Fluency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, R).
• Experience with database querying like SQL.
• Readiness to collaborate with engineering teams, product teams, and customers to develop prototypes and software products.
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or higher desired.
• CompTIA Security+ or higher cybersecurity certification preferred.

• $98,614.00 – $ for full‑time employment (Virginia Client Office).
