The Workday Security Developer III is responsible for performing system analysis and designing to include requirements, specifications, configuration, documentation, testing, and development of security roles and policies within Workday. Conducts highly complex work, without supervision and with extensive latitude for independent judgment. Serves as a liaison between TSG groups, clients, and vendors and as a mentor to others on the team and in the department.
PositionSummary
We are seeking an experienced Workday Security Developer to design, implement, maintain, and optimize the Workday security model across the full Workday ERP Suite. This role sits within the IT organization and closely partners with HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Compliance, and Audit teams to ensure secure, compliant, and efficient access to Workday while supporting business initiatives and system enhancements. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Workday's configurable security framework, including domain security policies, business process security, security groups, role-based access, and security troubleshooting.
Workday security is built around configurable security policies, security groups, and least-privilege access controls.
- Design, configure, and maintain Workday security for HCM, Payroll, Financials, Recruiting, Learning, and other Workday modules.
- Configure and maintain:
Domain Security Policies Business Process Security Policies Security Groups Role-Based Security User-Based, Intersection, Aggregation, and Constrained Security Groups. - Perform security analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for access-related issues.
- Design and support role-based access models that align with organizational policies and the principle of least privilege.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Internal Audit, Compliance, and business stakeholders to gather and implement security requirements.
- Conduct periodic security reviews, user access certifications, and Segregation of Duties (SoD) assessments.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, reports, and evidence of security controls.
- Recommend and implement security improvements that enhance governance and operational efficiency.
- Create and maintain security documentation, standards, and procedures.
- 3+ years of hands-on Workday Security configuration experience.
- Strong understanding of:
Domain Security Business Process Security Configurable Security Security Groups Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) - Experience supporting Workday HCM and at least one additional Workday functional area (Supply Chain, Payroll, Financials, Recruiting, Benefits, Learning, etc.).
- Experience supporting security audits and compliance initiatives.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with Workday Financials security.
- Experience with Workday integrations (EIB, Studio, Core Connectors, Workday APIs).
- Knowledge of HIPAA or other regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts.
- Workday Pro Security Certification required, or must be able to obtain within 18 months of hire date.
- Experience with Workday Prism Analytics or Extend is a plus.

- Develop technical documentation, training materials, and reference resources for supported applications and systems.
- Serves as a technical mentor and resource for team members and contributes to a collaborative work environment.
- Participates in an on-call rotation.
Education:
Associate's degree in a STEM related field or 2 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of related experience required. Advanced experience with full stack development including front-end and back-end technologies, APIs, relational databases, and server configuration required.
