Arabic Sudanese Linguist CAT III

Overview

Valiant is seeking skilled CAT III Arabic Sudanese Linguists to provide interpretation and translation services in support of ongoing and new U.S. operations and mission requirements.

• Provide foreign language support services, including transcription and translation/interpretation (comprising idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression from English to Arabic Sudanese or vice versa) in support of military interrogations, intelligence collection, and other operational missions.
• Provide cultural and ethnic context of translations, interpretations, and transcriptions with an expert linguist’s opinion on the most likely meaning/intent of terms, phrases, or statements with multiple valid interpretations.
• Perform document exploitation, scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents and intercepted data for key information; supplement interpretations and translations with information pertinent to professional fields such as medicine, science, engineering, or law; identify and extract information components meeting military information requirement criteria; provide input to reports.
• Native proficiency preferred, not required.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must have at minimum two years’ experience of interpretation/translation.
• Interagency Language Round Table (ILR) level 3 in both Target Language and English. Native proficiency preferred, not required.
• Must have document exploitation skills.
• Must have in-depth geo-political knowledge.
• Must be computer literate.
• Able to understand the essentials of all speech in a standard dialect and to follow conversations between educated native speakers; understand radio broadcasts, news stories, and other non-technical reports.
• Able to produce idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression from English to target language and vice versa.
• Able to interpret/translate using colloquial and slang words and phrases.
• Able to conduct consecutive and accurate translations, transcription, and interpretation of on-going conversations/activities and intelligence activities to/from target language.
• Able to provide cultural and ethnic context of translations and interpretations and offer advice on cultural significance of statements, conversations, or documents.
• Able to perform document exploitation (scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents for intelligence information and identify/extract information components meeting military information requirement criteria).

• Must have at minimum an ACTIVE TOP SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI.
• Must be able to pass a polygraph and a CI Focus Interview.
• U.S. Citizenship.

• Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees.
