Job Summary

This position is responsible for the economical procurement and contracting of highly technical and specialized complex commodities. It manages various commodities that may include goods and services (both professional and non‑professional), construction, insurance, Universal Service Fund (E‑Rate) and IT as well as special projects and prevailing wage. The role requires considerable knowledge in public procurement with specific knowledge and skills for construction and facilities’ CIP projects.

The work requires engagement and collaboration with school and department leadership, responding to vendors and the community on procurement matters. Procurement expertise, including excellent oral and written communication skills, is essential. Work is performed with a high degree of independence and decision‑making, and is reviewed by the Supervisor of Purchasing through conferences and reports for conformance with established policies, procedures, purchasing regulations, the Virginia Public Procurement Act and Federal Law as required.

The position recommends policy or procedural changes, gives presentations, provides training, and supervises subordinate staff, while remaining informed on procurement legislation and best practices.

Responsibilities and Requirements

Salary and Benefits

Grade 15 Salary Range: $106,965 – $173,391 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
