Vice President of Construction Management - Industrial Mechanical Specialty Contractor - Virginia
Gryphon Oakwood are currently partnered with a well-established specialty construction and fabrication company with deep expertise delivering complex, high-specification projects across multiple industrial sectors, who are seeking a Vice President of Construction Management to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensure alignment across teams, and intervene where projects require additional leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Provide executive oversight of construction management operations across multiple concurrent projects
- Monitor project performance, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation across the portfolio (not a single-project focus role)
- Identify at-risk or underperforming projects early and implement corrective strategies
- Partner closely with the owner on operational planning, decision-making, and growth initiatives
- Lead and mentor project managers, superintendents, and cross-functional teams
- Support business scaling efforts, including process improvements and operational efficiency
- Ensure projects meet safety, quality, and compliance standards
- Step into complex or challenging situations and drive solutions in a hands‑on manner
- Collaborate with fabrication and field operations to maximize capacity utilization
- Maintain visibility across all moving parts of the business in a fast‑paced environment
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in construction, industrial fabrication, or related sectors
- Proven experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects and large operational teams
- Strong background in industrial construction, mechanical systems, structural steel, fabrication, or similar environments
- Demonstrated ability to identify and recover troubled projects
- Experience partnering with executive leadership or ownership teams
- Hands‑on leadership style with strong problem‑solving capabilities
- Financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
