About

This Role

As the Branch Manager of Bull Run Library, you will be the chief strategist and cultural leader for one of our system’s most vital locations. Your work will balance high-level community engagement with the sophisticated operational management of a modern, tech-forward facility.

In This Role, You Will
  • Cultivate a High-Performing Team:
    Provide visionary leadership and direct supervision to the branch management team. You will champion a culture of continuous improvement through proactive coaching, meaningful performance evaluations, and clear, supportive guidance—ensuring every staff member has the tools to excel.
  • Master Operational & Fiscal Stewardship:
    Oversee the branch’s complex operations with precision. This includes sophisticated budget management, meticulous financial documentation, and serving as a key partner to the Friends of the Library to maximize resources and community impact.
  • Curate an Exceptional Environment:
    Act as the primary steward of the Bull Run facility. You will ensure the physical space—including our state-of-the-art makerspace and study areas—remains a safe, welcoming, and inspiring sanctuary for both the public and your staff.
  • Act as a Strategic Liaison:
    Serve as a primary ambassador for Prince William Public Libraries. You will build and maintain vital relationships with community stakeholders, delivering a gold standard of internal and external customer service that reflects our commitment to excellence and equity.
  • Drive Innovation:
    Look beyond the day-to-day to identify emerging library trends, ensuring Bull Run Library remains a cutting-edge hub for learning, creativity, and community connection.
Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree in library or information science and 3 years of experience in Library Systems Operations to include 1 year of supervisory experience.

Preferences
  • Management

    Experience:

    At least 2 years of successful leadership managing a library department.
  • Staff Supervision:
    At least 2 years managing both paraprofessional and professional staff, including experience with hiring, coaching, and disciplinary processes.
  • Policy Expertise:
    Proven ability to create, revise, and interpret policies to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Facility Oversight:
    Experience in facility management, including maintenance coordination and basic safety standards.
  • Budget Administration:
    At least 2 years of experience overseeing and managing budgets, including financial reporting and resource allocation.
  • Service Model Knowledge:
    Familiarity with integrated service desk models and best practices for delivering exceptional customer service.
Special Requirements

The position may require travel to other branches within the system. A DMV check will be conducted for employees who drive while on County business.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week exempt position. Bull Run Library is currently open 7 days a week. The schedule includes days, evenings, and weekends. Schedule may vary depending upon the needs of the library.

Hiring Salary Range

$91,162.50 - $
