Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Dean of Student Advocacy, the Senior Associate Dean and Director of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity (SCAI) serves as a senior leader within the Dean of Student Advocacy Office, providing strategic direction and oversight for all functions of the university’s Student Conduct and Honor Systems.

Unit: Student Affairs (Vice Provost) MBU

Responsibilities
  • Reports directly to the Associate Vice President and Dean of Student Advocacy.
  • Serves as a member of the Dean of Student Advocacy Leadership Team.
  • Serves as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team.
  • Participates in divisional committees to advance strategic goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President and Dean of Student Advocacy and the Vice President of Student Affairs.
  • Prepares reports, conducts assessments, delivers presentations, and provides data to the VCU Cabinet as requested.
  • Serves on the Dean of Students on-call rotation.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree or equivalent professional experience in higher education administration, counseling, student affairs, or a related discipline.
  • 4-6 years of experience in higher education, specifically with student and academic integrity.
  • Experience providing high-level leadership and oversight within student affairs or student conduct environments.
  • Knowledge of current trends in Student Conduct, Academic Integrity, Clery, Title IX, Hazing, and Restorative Justice.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, data‑driven decision‑making, and developing standard operating procedures.
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise teams, particularly in student advocacy or related functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including campus leadership and external partners.
  • Ability to cultivate partnerships and collaborative efforts both internally and externally to enhance the effectiveness of the office.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a member of VCU.
Preferred Qualifications
  • JD, PhD, Doctorate or other terminal degree in higher education administration, counseling, student affairs, or a related discipline.
  • Leadership experience in developing, implementing, or advancing restorative justice initiatives.
  • Familiarity with emerging practices including Artificial Intelligence in student affairs.
  • Experience managing and navigating departmental rebranding initiatives.
  • Skilled in issue resolution and active listening.
  • Proficiency in compiling, analyzing, and presenting data to inform stakeholders.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
