The Vice President, Gaming Operations is the executive leader of the business with full responsibility for delivering handle, revenue, and EBITDA targets for Virginia Casino Properties. Directly responsible for product, marketing, business intelligence, operations, and customer service functions. In conjunction with Senior Leadership at CDI Corporate and all CDI properties, is responsible for developing and implementing the long-term strategy of Churchill Downs Gaming, including introducing products, services, and optimized guest experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Partner with property leadership to maximize profitability across the Company through delivery of system wide operating standards, labor efficiencies, gaming best practices, and talent development.
- Offer strategic insight (industry trends, product categories, brand conception, brand economics, competitive landscape, and consumer insights) to develop a strategic agenda that drives results.
- Responsible for ensuring properties’ execution of annual business plan, capital plan, P&L accountability, marketing strategy and overall financial performance for assigned areas of operations.
- Monitor the Company’s gaming position, competitive movements, customer trends and other areas which may affect the organization and the portfolio of businesses and make necessary changes to improve business objectives.
- Review daily and monthly Casino data systems reports and financial reports for any unusual statistical fluctuations and general revenue performance for all gaming areas, including coin-in, theoretical versus actual hold win percentages and drop.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory controls both internal and external including but not limited to state and federal laws and applicable regulations of the Gaming Commission, Racing Commission or other applicable regulatory bodies.
- Maintain an effective rapport with all applicable regulatory bodies including the state’s racing commission.
- Lead the relationship with the Company’s licensing and technical suppliers and ensure they deliver to agreed dates and standards.
- Oversee the development, implementation, maintenance and compliance to departmental procedures and policies to ensure the safe, effective and efficient operation of the division and the protection of Company assets.
- Develop and ensure implementation of acquisition and retention marketing strategies that ensure growth and profitable returns.
- Responsible for leading cross-functional collaboration across departments (i.e. Marketing, Finance, IT, HR, Legal, etc.) to align operations with broader organizational goals and objectives, ensuring effective delivery through shared services framework.
