Production Manager, Operations Manager
If you are an Operations professional looking for an opportunity to grow your career, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Orange, VA location, you will lead and coordinate production activities to achieve manufacturing targets and support on-time delivery to customers. In this role, you will directly manage hourly production employees, foster a culture of safety, and motivate your team to achieve high levels of efficiency and quality.
You will oversee all manufacturing activities for your department and shift while collaborating with other departments—including maintenance, tool room, quality assurance, and stockroom—to ensure smooth operations.
- Plan and schedule workflow in alignment with production control to meet delivery and quality goals.
- Organize and assign team members to support the production plan effectively.
- Collaborate with the materials department to confirm part availability, address shortages, and coordinate cycle counting as needed.
- Ensure employees receive proper training to promote safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Champion safety awareness and maintain a safe working environment.
- Drive 5S initiatives and lead continuous improvement projects, mentoring and training employees along the way.
- Support ISO system compliance and maintain high standards of quality.
- Foster strong communication across shifts and all employee levels.
- Participate in hiring, interviewing, and onboarding new team members.
- Review job performance, timecards, and attendance records, and administer policies consistently.
- Coordinate with support departments to maintain a productive and safe workplace.
- Request necessary tooling, equipment, and supplies to ensure smooth production flow.
- Be available for overtime, including at least two Saturdays per month, as needed.
- Demonstrate excellent attendance and flexibility to work different shifts.
- Collaborate effectively in a team environment with production and support departments.
You establish clear responsibilities and processes for supervising work and measuring results. You deal constructively with problems that do not have clear solutions or outcomes. You create teamwork allowing others across the organization to achieve shared objectives. You optimally communicate in various settings; one-on-one, small and large groups, or among diverse styles and position levels. You extract lessons learned from previous failures and mistakes.
You break down objectives into appropriate initiatives and actions. You push yourself and help others achieve results.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Strong organizational, human relations and problem-solving skills.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and ability to work in MRP systems.
- Legal authorization to work within the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.
- Must be flexible to work required overtime.
- Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience in a production supervisory position.
- Familiarity with Heijunka, JDEand/or UKG.
