Position: Material Handler 1

The Industrial Controls Panel Shop Material Handler will be responsible for the receiving, kitting, movement, and distribution of all panel shop components, equipment and material. This individual is also responsible for safety and quality and the care of all M.C. Dean, Inc. provided shop tools, meters, and other associated equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and follow written and verbal instruction including the ability to adhere to project schedules.
  • Enter all received material in M.C. Dean’s electronic material tracking system as it arrives.
  • Competency with basic computer software.
  • Ability to comprehend and utilize DWS software.
  • Ability to review BOM (Bill of Materials) relative to Project Drawings to pull and kit components, materials from DWS.
  • Utilize printers at Technology Group Labelling Center to print specific labels for project builds.
  • Ability to utilize iPad and/or Laptop.
  • Ability to use scan gun as applicable.
  • Report out on missing components for project builds based on BOM – utilizing Infralink to create case to Project managers of missing components.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and track unique part numbers to work with DWS and Shop personnel.
  • Ability to learn new CMMS software as applicable to assist in planning for specific projects.
  • Create accurate and well labelled job kits, to provide delivery to individual work stations.
  • Order Phenolics utilizing Infralink as applicable and utilizing printers in Labelling Center to print specified labels for projects.
  • Maintain consumable inventory, identify and order upon approval needed parts, materials, to keep Min/Max stocked for team builds.
  • Maintain vision on hand delivery parts, materials, components to aid in efficiency for project builds working with DWS personnel.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience with a High School Diploma or
  • 1+ years with an Associate’s Degree
Skills
  • Must have demonstrated experience and proficiency with intermediate level MS Excel and Outlook.
  • Must have excellent reporting and tracking skills, along with a consistent record of accuracy, high productivity, professional level work ethic, and strict compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate competency with managing critical tasks individually such as controlling the consignment programs, tool management, managing the lay down area, and/or loading and unloading zones and various other individual responsibilities as assigned.
Abilities
  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
  • Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
