- Create a production plan based on the master schedule for the production lines. Balance the production plan according to internal capacities and constraints on the manufacturing line(s).
- Update production orders to reflect changes in BOMs.
- Expedite and assign priorities to production orders in ERP/AS400, cascading priorities to internal material supply chain.
- Be the champion for cleaning material backflush issues at close of work orders at end of line and drive accountability from production and engineering to prevent these from happening.
- Provide information to the master scheduler and planning supervisor about production order and expedite status for effective communication to internal and external customers.
- Coordinate reschedules of production orders based on material availability.
- Process and track material rejects for internal suppliers for evaluation and processing scrap; quickly shifts gears to meet changing business requirements.
- Have a solid working knowledge of BOMs, routings and operations.
- Demonstrate strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Assist operations in the development and execution of production schedules consistent with the overall building and shipping schedule. Coordinate with supporting departments to ensure an adequate supply of materials arrives at the right place in a timely manner.
- Leverage the internal ERP system (AS400) to schedule production lines in the most efficient and effective manner, ensuring the efficient flow of materials throughout the plant for assigned lines. Work closely with production, quality, engineering, procurement and inside sales to maximize output and customer satisfaction.
- Review inventory levels and customer orders for the company’s distribution network; recommend system adjustments to achieve high levels of internal customer service while maintaining low inventory levels.
- Communicate with internal and external customers, partners and vendors to execute daily production and materials movement.
- Identify parts used on the assigned product line and verify placement location on the product; utilize work order information.
- Utilize modeling data and collaborative feedback to perform optimization simulations and recovery scheduling.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
- Understand procedures for ordering supplies used in the work area.
- Use proper safety equipment and apparel required for each operation on the product line or work cell, and follow dress code guidelines.
- HS Diploma
- 3+ years of Materials and Logistics/Planning experience in a demanding, complex manufacturing environment.
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s in Supply Chain Management. - Knowledge of planning systems and understanding of materials movement and utilization on the production floor.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
