** Main position objectives
** The Crating Technician provides the highest quality work ethic and character for crating the Maag family of equipment to include:
Dryers of all sizes and TWS systems with an emphasis on hitting customer delivery dates.
** Position description – Tasks, responsibilities, competencies
*** Measure and Cut:
Read blueprints, diagrams, or work orders to determine exact dimensions, then cut lumber using power saws and hand tools.
* Assemble:
Build custom skids, pallets, boxes, and crates using nail guns, staplers, screws, and drills.
* Secure and Protect:
Position and fasten items inside crates using blocking, bracing, strapping, and foam padding to prevent shifting during transit. Perform leak tests on dryer and tank housings
* Label and Document:
Weigh packages, verify parts, and apply required shipping or international export markings.
* Material Handling:
Operate forklifts or pallet jacks to move heavy materials and load finished shipments.
* The incumbent considers all interests of quality, accident prevention and occupational safety as well as environmental safety in a preventive manner within his scope of responsibility and supports the avoidance of damages to people, facilities, assets, material and environment actively.
* The incumbent is obliged to perform tasks requested by management that relate to his position scope or arise from company needs including OT and weekends and holidays when needed. This job description reflects current status, right to make changes reserved.
** Work Environment
*** Work in this position is mainly at the Eagle Rock location, but the incumbent could/will be asked to crate at the Roanoke facility when needed.  While performing the duties of this job in a factory setting, the employee will be moving crated projects on the job floor. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE may be required.

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.  The employee must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds.
* The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
* The employee will be required to have fork lift training and regularly use lifts and ladders to assemble structures off of the ground five feet or higher.

* High School diploma or equivalent education (additional technical skills a plus)
Desirable
* Prior background in carpentry, framing, manufacturing, or industrial shipping.
* Experience with tools used to crate, tape measure, saws, etc.
