Non-Profit & Social Impact Associate, Community Health

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Charitable Engagement, the Charitable Engagement Associate provides support to Charitable Engagement Team which is responsible for building relationships with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. chapters, donors and strategic partners. Core duties include outreach and follow-up with DST Chapters, management of donor records, managing donor communications, tracking metrics, and assistance with implementing public programming consistent with the organization’s core mission.

Active membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is preferred.

Established by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated in 1967, the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) is a 501 (c)(3) public charity supporting scholastic achievement, public service programs, and research initiatives focused upon African American women. As such, DREF’s mission is to identify issues affecting Black women, their families, and

communities of the African Diaspora globally, and create solutions through research, programming, and funding in support of charitable and educational programs of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and other collaborative organizations.

• Facilitate Charitable Engagement services for Chapters which includes:
• Reviewing Scholarship Applications submitted by chapters
• Reviewing Grant Requests from chapters
• Reviewing Fundraising Applications
• Assist the Senior Manager with the Community Empowerment Grant process. Coordinate electronic mailing of award letters to chapters that are recipients of Community Empowerment Grants
• Assist in the planning and execution of presentations, fundraisers and special events (i.e. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. National Conventions, Delta Days at the Nation’s Capital, regional conferences)
• Support the initiatives of The Center for Research on African American Women:
  Stephanie Tubbs Jones Social Justice Institute, Sister Scholars Advisory Council, production of PHILLIS:
  The Journal for Research on African American Women
• Data input of donor information into donor CRM system.
• Work with Finance team to provide monthly reports for donations from lockbox, mail and other non-online source of donations to the Finance Team and Senior Management.
• Provide within 30 days, thank you notes to all donors with donations in excess of $25.00
• Maintain a database with demographics of donors including emails, mailing addresses and annual donations
• Perform other related projects and duties as assigned.

• A bachelor’s degree is required with at least three years of relevant work experience.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Requires attention to detail, proficiency in technology (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Zoom, social media), and strong administrative skills.
• Must be able to multitask, have strong collaboration skills, ability to work with groups, and have a passion for empowering communities through charitable and educational programming.
• Familiarity with non-profit management is a plus.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.

Salary Range: mid $62,500-$70,000 with full benefit package including health, dental and vision.

This is a Hybrid position. Must reside in Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia (DMV) Must be able to work in office and remotely.
