Job Duties$3,500 Sign-On Bonus or up to $10K Student Loan Repayment may be available for eligible new hires.
LPNs provide evidence-based nursing care utilizing the nursing process and principles of general nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Screens for sick call, administers medications, and provides first aid and basic life support to patients and employees as needed.
Maintains open lines of communication with security and treatment staff while providing input and feedback to help organize treatment plans.
Records all pertinent information in the medical record.
Interacts with other departments as needed.
Promotes continued competence through education/certification with a focus on correctional nursing.
Must be capable of working hours, days and locations as assigned and available for coverage to meet institutional needs.
Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary.
Minimum Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Valid unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license or multi‑state compact license; if recent graduate, NCLEX‑PN exam must be scheduled at application time
- Working knowledge of general nursing practices
- Ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases
- Ability to maintain appropriate documentation, provide first aid, and carry out provider orders
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and provide practical nursing care
- Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire (current certification through AHA or ARC)
- Experience in a corrections or law‑enforcement environment
- Experience or training in general nursing and emergency medical care
