Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a PRN Preop/PACU Registered Nurse for our orthopedic specialty ambulatory surgery center. You will provide safe and effective nursing care from preoperative to postoperative stages until the patient is dismissed from the facility. The role requires caring like family, demonstrating the values of HCA Healthcare, and contributing to our mission and vision.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the patient’s care area, ensuring adequate equipment and supplies are available.
  • Demonstrate proper airway management techniques.
  • Monitor patients according to policy, including vital signs, temperature, and cardiac status.
  • Perform and document proper technique for insertion, maintenance, and removal of IV catheters and saline locks.
  • Conduct head‑to‑toe evaluations using an approved scoring system in line with HCA policy and procedure.
  • Check dressings and/or operative sites and report abnormalities to the surgeon.
  • Provide a safe and comforting environment for patients and their families.
  • Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Nursing, RN Diploma, or higher nursing degree required.
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably in Preop, PACU, ER, ICU, or Surgery.
  • Orthopedic experience required.
  • Active RN license issued by the state of employment.
  • BCLS certification upon employment; online certification not acceptable.
  • ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • PALS certification required within 30 days of hire if needed by the facility.
