UVA Health is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Malignant Hematology ambulatory Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team at the UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. This position offers the opportunity to practice in a highly collaborative, academic environment within the UVA School of Medicine’s Division of Hematology‑Oncology/Medical Oncology and UVA Health’s Center for Advanced Practice, caring for patients with complex acute and chronic hematologic malignancies.
Following a structured four‑month onboarding program, the APP will build toward eight independent clinic sessions per week (32 clinical hours) in a practice model that emphasizes autonomy with strong physician support. Clinical responsibilities include comprehensive patient evaluation, development and management of individualized treatment plans, monitoring and management of therapy‑related toxicities, care coordination, and patient and caregiver education. Procedural responsibilities include performing bone marrow biopsies and skin biopsies, with ongoing procedural skill development supported by the team.

- Ability to practice with a high level of clinical independence while collaborating effectively with supervising physicians and interdisciplinary team members
- Strong skills in clinical assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision‑making
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary care model
- Familiarity with Epic (EPIC) electronic medical record preferred
- Commitment to evidence‑based practice, continuous professional development, and quality improvement initiatives
- Interest in academic medicine, including participation in education, research, or process improvement activities

Administration- Participate in a structured four‑month onboarding process with progressive independence.
