Job Summary:Registered Nurses provide quality nursing services by working with the patient care team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patients’ care and by providing a positive, supportive environment. The Registered Nurse is the front-line representative of the patient care team often serving as the intermediary between the patient and family, the provider(s), and other care team members. This role is expected to: participate in performance improvement initiatives;
maintain professional competence; develop others; uphold confidentiality, safety, and professional standards; and support Shared Governance through service on councils or sponsored activities.
Essential Functions:
- Patient Care and Care Coordination: monitor, examine, and evaluate patient conditions; assist with care plans; take appropriate actions to promote short/long‑term outcomes; deliver care plans applying independent judgment; collaborate and communicate care plans with other staff; prioritize and coordinate optimal daily patient flow; deliver safe and effective care according to policies and procedures; maintain appropriate documentation of assessments, changes, care delivered, education, and incidents.
- Patient Advocacy and Satisfaction: listen to concerns, probe in‑depth to understand needs, respond in appropriately timed manner; serve as an educational resource for patients and families; communicate necessary patient information to family, licensed care providers, and staff; embrace patient‑ and family‑centered care; prioritize actions; provide input into care plans with confidentiality.
- Performance Improvement: seek opportunities to improve the work environment and processes; contribute ideas and support change implementation; participate in improvement initiatives aligned with patient quality outcomes, satisfaction, staff satisfaction, and financial performance.
- Professional Competency and Growth: maintain professional licenses and certifications; complete required training; self‑identify and manage development opportunities; participate in professional organizations; keep current with research and industry best practices; pursue professional growth and leadership development.
- Professional Leadership: mentor and precept other nurses; foster a positive work environment; adhere to confidentiality, safety, and professional standards; act with professionalism, embrace shared governance principles, demonstrate integrity; hold self and others accountable; promote the nursing profession and assist with recruitment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Comply with Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
- Associate’s Nursing or Diploma (Nurse);
Bachelor’s Nursing preferred
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

- American Red Cross Basic Life Support - RN
- Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN
- Multi‑state Compact - PALS
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support or ARC‑PALS
- American Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PALS-I - PALS Instructor or PALS‑P - PALS‑Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days - TNCC
- Trauma Nurse Core Course or ATCN
- Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (Cer) or TNCC‑P
- Trauma Nurse Core Course
- Provisional (18 Months) within 18 Months - ACLS
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC‑ALS
- American Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS Instructor or ACLS‑P - ACLS‑Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days
