As a Registered Nurse in Endoscopy at UVA Health, you will practice at the intersection of procedural care and patient‑centered nursing. Working across both outpatient and hospital‑based settings, you will develop advanced assessment skills while contributing to a high‑throughput, team‑driven clinical environment designed for growth and variety.
The RoleThis is a dynamic, procedural nursing role where no two days are the same. You will rotate between key areas of the endoscopy workflow, balancing hands‑on procedural support with pre‑ and post‑care responsibilities in a high‑acuity, high‑efficiency environment.
On a typical day, you can expect to move fluidly across the care continuum, including:
- Supporting procedures in the endoscopy suite, including:
- Preparing and stocking procedural rooms
- Assisting with GI and specialty procedures
- Managing technical instrumentation
- Administering and monitoring sedation
- Closely monitoring patient safety during procedures
- Providing comprehensive pre‑procedure care, such as:
- Conducting focused patient assessments and intake
- Reviewing medical history and medications
- Ensuring procedural readiness
- Starting IVs and obtaining vital signs
- Managing post‑procedure recovery, including:
- Monitoring recovery and patient stabilization
- Coordinating handoffs and clinical communication
- Preparing patients for safe discharge
- Rotating responsibilities across procedure, prep, and recovery (≈50/50 mix) to maintain skill diversity and engagement
You will work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume procedural setting, collaborating with a large team of nurses and technicians across two locations, with opportunities to expand into pulmonary and interventional subspecialties.

Minimum Requirements- Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. - Experience:
1 year of relevant experience. - Licensure:
Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20–50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The pay range for this role is $39.90 – $53.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
